Penn State Football Ranked No. 17 In Preseason Coaches’ Poll

Penn State football checked in at No. 17 in the preseason Coaches’ Poll earlier today:

The Nittany Lions will start outside the top 10 for the first time since 2022. In total, eight Big Ten teams are ranked in the poll, with Ohio State and Oregon taking the top two spaces. Defending national champion Indiana is at No. 6.

Three of Penn State’s 2026 opponents are in the 10-20 range- USC (No. 14), Michigan (No. 16) and Washington (No. 19). Iowa is not on the Nittany Lions’ schedule, but the Hawkeyes round out the Big Ten’s eight top 25 teams.

The SEC’s nine total teams is the most of any conference in this poll. No teams outside of the power conferences are in the preseason rankings.
