The Penn State Nittany Lions have made another addition to their 2027 recruiting class, landing a commitment from four-star tight end Cooper Terwilliger, who announced his commitment Monday on social media.

Terwilliger is their fifth commitment of the month, and the second in three days, as head coach Matt Campbell and his staff now have seven total commitments in his first recruiting class. He is from Pierre, South Dakota, and picked them over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Penn State worked quickly to land Terwilliger, offering him a scholarship on Dec. 18, 2025, just 10 days after Campbell was hired. They hosted him on his first visit in January and again on April 4 before he officially joined the class on Monday. He is set to return on June 5 for his official visit.

He is ranked as the No. 258 overall player and No. 12 tight end in the 247Sports composite. The 6-foot-5, 215-pounder is also the No. 1 player from South Dakota.

Terwilliger's commitment caused Penn State to shoot up the rankings, and they now have 247Sports' No. 18 recruiting class in the country and the No. 8 class in the Big Ten. He is their second-highest-ranked commit, only behind four-star wide receiver Landon Blum, the No. 214 player in the country
