Penn State is 3-0 on the season and will be opening conference play on Saturday against Wisconsin. After the game against Buffalo, multiple Penn State players came away injured.
Now, Penn State head coach Matt Campbell is giving an update on one of the injured players, per Mark Wogenrich of Sports Illustrated.
“Koby Howard got dinged up at the on that long touchdown run, and I think right now we probably don’t know exactly where he’ll be by the end of the week,” Campbell said at his weekly press conference. “[He] kind of went through a couple things yesterday, and [we’re] just trying to gauge exactly where is he as we get ourselves ready for the end of the week.”

Howard has been the top receiver for the Nittany Lions, bringing in 12 receptions for 344 yards and two touchdowns this season. He is also third in the nation with 28.7 yards per reception. Howard opened the season strong with six receptions for 161 yards and a touchdown. He also had a great game against Buffalo. In that game, he brought in just three receptions, but for 115 yards and a score. That included a 70-yard reception in the game. Further, he ran the ball once for 20 yards and a touchdown.
If Howard is unable to go, Chase Sowell and Brett Eskildsen will need to step up. Sowell has eight receptions this year for 126 yards and a score. Eskildsen has nine receptions, but for just 83 yards and a score. Penn State will be hurting in the explosive play department, though. Howard is the only player on the team with a reception longer than 25 yards this year.
Penn State is a Top 25 team so far this year and will look to hold on to that ranking when they host Wisconsin at 5 pm ET on Saturday.
