It doesn’t take a genius to realize that Penn State is making the defensive side of the ball a priority in the future. All three of the team’s commitments for the 2027 class have been cornerbacks, and they have many more players who they’ve offered in the secondary.
The Nittany Lions brought another crop of players to State College this weekend to meet with the coaching staff and take a look at spring practice. There were some important players in this group, like four-star wide receiver Khalil Taylor and four-star quarterback Will Mencl, but there were also some prospects that the team was looking to offer.
Two of the high-schoolers who were able to achieve this were unsurprisingly on the defensive side of the ball. Class of 2028 linebacker Christian King and Class of 2029 cornerback Jeremiah Jackman both took to social media to announce that they received offers from Penn State during their visits.

This is some tremendous work by the recruiting team, as these defenders are so young that they don’t even have star ratings yet. Both high-school standouts have multiple years left before they can make it to college and the sky is the limit for how good they can become.
Considering the work Penn State has done in the northeast region as of late, it’s certainly possible that King and Jackman follow suit and commit to the school that has been forming lasting connections with defensive prospects. Expect to see and hear a lot more about these two in the coming years with how aggressively Matt Campbell and his team have been with recruits over the last month.
