Penn State Opens as Double-Digit Favorite Over Rutgers

The oddsmakers like Penn State’s chances to end the regular season with three consecutive wins, opening the door to bowl eligibility. The Nittany Lions have opened as a 10.5-point favorite in their regular season finale against Rutgers, according to FanDuel.

Penn State is coming off its best performance of the year, decimating a Nebraska team that entered the game at 7-3. The Nittany Lions jumped out to a 23-3 halftime lead, before finishing with a 37-10 Senior Day victory. It was an especially memorable night for Kaytron Allen, who became the program’s all-time leading rusher as he rumbled for 160 yards and two scores on the ground. Meanwhile, Nicholas Singleton tied Saquon Barkley for the all-time touchdown record with two rushing scores. Defensive tackle Zane Durant had two key stops on fourth downs in his final home game.

Rutgers had a rough outing on Saturday, losing to #1 Ohio State 42-9 in Columbus. The loss dropped the Scarlet Knights to 2-6 in Big Ten play, with wins against Purdue and Maryland. Rutgers also enters the game at 5-6, with the winner gaining bowl-eligibility.
