We are deep into the college football offseason, but that doesn’t mean that Penn State will sit idle and wait for things to take shape around them. Last season was a whirlwind, with the midseason collapse and firing of James Franklin, so there’s no surprise that the school’s recruiting board was shaken up in a big way.
With Matt Campbell leading the charge now, there has obviously been a shift in philosophy and direction of the team. Well, that direction has brought the Nittany Lions back to Brayden Bonik, a four-star linebacker who was originally offered by the previous regime last summer. The Texas product is an intriguing, multi-sport athlete who should have the ability to fly around in the open field and make plays.
Bonik still has two more high school seasons to complete before he can step on the field in college, but Penn State is looking to bolster its future recruiting classes after some key losses in the last few months. The Nittany Lions will be offering the young linebacker again and hope to beat out a few powerhouses for his commitment.
After talking to LB coach @TysonVeidt I’m thankful for being re offered by the new Penn State staff@Coach_LaFavers@jackson_dip@GPowersScout@TFloss32@athleticcoach_@gabrieldbrooks@DonnieBaggs_@adamgorney@MikeRoach247@PennStateFball@RPHS_FB@SeanFitzOn3@DerekHoodjerpic.twitter.com/ELN3H9jPbx

Bonik has some significant NFL ties, with his father having coached in the league for 11 years and playing under Hall of Fame coach Jimmy Johnson at Oklahoma State. It seems like he has a strong support system and a high pedigree that could serve him well throughout his playing career. The six-foot-one, 195-pound linebacker had 62 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in his only season of high school ball and would be a great get for Penn State.
