The Nittany Lions just received perhaps their biggest shock of this recruiting cycle this past weekend with their defense potentially landing a difference maker at the linebacker position. Case Alexander committed to the Nittany Lions over Oklahoma, a program that he had key links too his whole life. While he won't play two ways in college, it is important to note he has such flexibility, playing a little bit at tight end.
His stats and class rankings however, are what set him apart. As the 24th ranked linebacker in the class according to 247Sports, Alexander has shown off his talents in his junior season. He recorded 88 tackles, five sacks and ten tackles for loss. As a tight end, he was able to stand out on the offensive side of the ball as well, tallying 679 yrds and an astonishing 12 touchdowns as an offensive secret weapon for Washington High.
What most likely clinched his commitment was his official visit to Happy Valley just two weeks ago. While Oklahoma is his legacy school, his brother, tight end Cooper Alexander will be playing for Penn State this year as well after transferring from Iowa State. Most importantly, it is Penn State's second recruit at the linebacker position and best of the bunch perhaps as Alexander is a four star prospect. The future looks a bit brighter in Happy Valley.
