Howle was vital in the consistent recruiting of tight ends at Penn State. He brought in names like Luke Reynolds, Andrew Rappleyea, Tyler Warren and others. He also played a major role in the development of multiple NFL draft picks.
Penn State currently has five tight ends playing a significant role in the NFL. Brenton Strange, Pat Freiermuth, Theo Johnson and Tyler Warren all are in the NFL after being coached by Howle.
Howle is the first of multiple expected position coaches to follow Franklin to Virginia Tech. Matt Campbell will have to find a new tight end coach to lead the new era.
