Florida earned a commitment from Penn State redshirt freshman offensive tackle Eagan Boyer on Tuesday.
Gators head coach Jon Sumrall had attacked the trenches in the transfer portal this offseason, and Boyer is the first addition at offensive tackle of the cycle. Boyer played for Florida’s new offensive line coach, Phil Trautwein, at Penn State, making him the second Nittany Lion to follow the coach to Gainesville; interior lineman TJ Stranahan was the first.
At 6-foot-8-inches and 302 pounds, Boyer has the size to handle SEC defensive linemen, but he’s relatively unproven at the Power Four level. A consensus 3-star recruit in the 2024 cycle, Boyer has just 135 snaps under his belt over two seasons.
He played in four games as a true freshman, playing 50 snaps on the offensive line, but his 2025 season was mostly spent on special teams. He got the chance to play significant snaps (77) in Penn State’s bowl game, where he earned a 44.7 overall grade from Pro Football Focus — 30.0 pass-blocking and 49.5 run-blocking.
Boyer has three years of eligibility remaining.
Florida offensive tackles room
With rising juniors Caden Jones and Bryce Lovett returning to Florida, Boyer slots into the rotation as a backup, alongside rising sophomore Fletcher Westphal. The Gators also return redshirt freshmen Tavaris Dice, Jahari Medlock and Daniel Pierre Louis at tackle, with a trio of true freshmen — Tyle Chukuyem, Chancellor Campbell and Javarii Luckas — joining the roster.
Trautwein has plenty of talent to develop, but Boyer being one of his guys gives him a leg up on the rest of the competition.
Florida 2026 transfer portal additions
Boyer is the 13th official transfer portal addition of the 2026 cycle for Florida.
On offense, Georgia Tech quarterback Aaron Philo, Cincinnati running back Evan Pryor, Georgia Tech wide receiver Bailey Stockton, Wake Forest receiver Micah Mays Jr., James Madison tight end Lacota Dippre and Penn State interior offensive lineman TJ Shanahan have committed.
On defense, Florida has earned commitments from Baylor defensive lineman DK Kalu, Jacksonville State defensive lineman/EDGE Emmanuel Oyebadejo, Baylor safety DJ Coleman and Mississippi Gulf Coast (JUCO) safety Elijah Owens. The Gators are also adding a pair of special teamers from Tulane, kicker Patrick Durkin and punter Alec Clark.
Florida is also expected to land Georgia Tech interior offensive lineman Harrison Moore.
