Penn State's Rocco Becht Makes Insane Comment for His Play

Penn State didn't play as poorly as it did in the first couple of Big Ten games of the season, getting embarrassed by Northwestern and blowing a late lead against Wisconsin, but it didn't exactly play great football against USC either.

There was a lot of hope that the Nittany Lions were going to be able to figure some things out on both sides of the football, but in typical Penn State fashion in big games, it wasn't able to come away with a win.

This has been frustrating for the fan base, especially given how bad the past 12 months have been.

For a Penn State program that was on the brink of a national championship less than 24 months ago, to get to this point is absolutely insane.

There are a lot of factors in why Penn State is playing this type of football, but at the end of the day, it comes down to the simple fact that it just isn't what it typically is.

This Penn State team isn't tough, talented, disciplined, well-coached, or anything in between. For what anybody wants to say, a lot needs improvement.

That includes quarterback Rocco Becht, who might be the biggest problem.

Becht just hasn't been the player Penn State was hoping for, and that's deeply disappointing after coming in from Iowa State.

Speaking to reporters, however, Becht made at least some positive comments about how this team needs to make changes and play the guys who want to be out there and are working the hardest.

“I think it’s the toughness, it’s the discipline, it’s the ability to finish,” Becht said, per StateCollege.com. “Like those things, you can’t teach that in practice. You can’t teach that in the in the film room. You got to be able to come out and do it on Saturdays, and we’re just not doing that right now.”

“We’re going to figure it out sooner than later, and we’re going to play the guys that want to be out there and work the hardest,” Becht said. “And I think that goes for the whole squad. And we’re going to continue to look ourselves up and down and stay together. That’s the only way you can work through this, is get better and work.”

I don't want to say this season is done for Penn State because we're only six games in, but if we're being honest for a second, the Nittany Lions aren't going to have the kind of year they were hoping for.

With six games remaining, including one this week against Michigan, there isn't really another game to watch for outside of this one.

Perhaps Penn State can end up making a bowl game, but I wouldn't put money on it right now.

Not to say that Penn State should play guys who aren't the best if they work harder than others in practice, but something has to change, and that ultimately has to be the decision that head coach Matt Campbell needs to make.
