Pennsbury's Galen Snyder steps down as head high school football coach

After 18 seasons as head football coach at his alma mater, Galen Snyder has stepped down at Pennsbury.

During his tenure, the Falcons went 137-71 and won a pair of PIAA District One championships (2006, 2014) and also claimed five Suburban One League titles.

He also had two Pennsbury teams reach the district semifinals.

Snyder took over the Pennsbury program in 2002 (after coaching at Harry S. Truman for four years) and spent 14 years at the helm before resigning so he would be able to watch his son, Luke, play college football at Kutztown.

After a short stint on the coaching staff at Truman, Snyder returned to Pennsbury in 2022, taking over a team that was in the throes of a 17-game losing.

Remarkably, he quickly turned the program around as his 2022 team went 7-0 and won the SOL National Conference title and finished with a 9-2 overall mark. This year’s team struggled and finished with a 1-9 record.

A 1986 Pennsbury graduate, Snyder was a standout linebacker on the school’s undefeated 1985 team and earned all-state honors that season. He played his college football at Duke and Columbia.
