Authorities say concerned viewers called 911 after the celebrity blogger appeared to harm himself during a livestream from his Miami home.

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton was hospitalized Tuesday after authorities responded to his Miami home following a disturbing livestream that prompted multiple calls from concerned viewers.

According to PEOPLE, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed deputies were dispatched after receiving reports that Hilton, whose legal name is Mario Lavandeira Jr., appeared to be harming himself during a TikTok livestream.

In a statement shared with multiple outlets, the sheriff’s office said deputies located Hilton alone inside the home and followed crisis intervention protocols designed to de-escalate mental health emergencies. Officials said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue later transported him to a local hospital for medical treatment, while the department’s Crisis Response Unit and licensed mental health professionals remained on the scene to support his family.

Authorities have not released additional information about Hilton’s condition.

Hilton rose to prominence in the early 2000s as one of the internet’s first celebrity gossip powerhouses, building a massive audience through his blog, PerezHilton.com. His often-controversial coverage of celebrities helped shape modern entertainment media, though it also drew criticism over the years for its aggressive tone and invasion of celebrities’ privacy.

Representatives for Hilton said they are aware of the situation but had not yet been able to speak with him directly. They asked for privacy as they focus on his health and the well-being of his family.

The incident has sparked an outpouring of concern across social media, with many users encouraging compassion and reminding others of the importance of mental health resources.
