After all the anticipation leading up to Week 3, Ole Miss and LSU finally squared off Saturday. Lane Kiffin’s return to Oxford delivered a highly intense game, with the Rebels blowing a 24-7 lead before the Tigers tied it at 24 in the fourth quarter.

But Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss responded with a 13-play, 75-yard go-ahead touchdown drive to lift No. 8 Ole Miss to a thrilling 32-24 victory over No. 7 LSU.

CFB Analysts React to Ole Miss’ Win Against Lane Kiffin

After LSU’s loss, much of the reaction naturally centered around Kiffin.

“Pete Golding > Lane Kiffin. Always was. Always will be,” exclaimed PFN’s Oliver Hodgkinson.

“Maybe Lane should have brought the NFL players?” suggested PFN analyst Alec Elijah.

“Sam Leavitt’s night ends fittingly: throwing the ball into the forehead of the biggest defender on the field,” posted PFN’s Cam Mellor.

PFN analyst Ian Cummings gave a descriptive breakdown of the QB matchup.

“Ole Miss wins 32-24 — thought this was a good game to get a read on Trinidad Chambliss. Had some NFL-caliber throws early, fell into a slump in the 2H, but willed his way back and came away w/ the game-winning TD. Met the moment. The difference in QB quality was night and day.”

The Tigers now only have an 8.0% chance of winning the SEC, per PFN’s College Football Playoff Meter.

Moving forward, LSU will have to lick its wounds in a hurry as it faces Texas A&M in Week 4, while Ole Miss will gear up to take on the Florida Gators.
