OXFORD — Ole Miss football coach Pete Golding has added two former Ole Miss players to his coaching staff in the final days before spring practice.
Ole Miss announced March 19 it hired Marcus Woodson as co-defensive coordinator and Terrance Metcalf as an offensive line assistant.
Woodson was hired as Kansas State’s co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach on Dec. 22. His addition helps fill the role vacated by Patrick Toney, who left as the Ole Miss defensive coordinator in February. Toney was hired in January.
Woodson played safety for the Rebels from 1999-2002. He spent 2023-25 at Arkansas as a co-defensive coordinator. He has also coached defensive backs at Florida State (2020-22) and Auburn (2018-19).
Golding is capable of handling defense coordinator duties, but Woodson’s hire relieves some of the burden.
Former Ole Miss football star Terrence Metcalf joins Pete Golding’s coaching staff
Metcalf is bringing some Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame recognition into the Ole Miss coaching staff.
As an interior defensive lineman for the Rebels (1997-01), Metcalf earned All-SEC and All-America honors. He played in the NFL for seven seasons.
This is Metcalf’s first job coaching at the Division I level. He has coached high school football and at Coahoma Community College.
Metcalf is the father of NFL wide receiver DK Metcalf, who played at Ole Miss from 2016-18.
