Pete Golding, Ole Miss Land 1,000 Yard WR in College Football Transfer Portal

The Ole Miss Rebels’ journey in the 2025 college football season ended in the College Football Playoff semifinals.

The Rebels concluded the year with a record of 13-2, marking one of the best seasons in the program’s history. This was also their first time making it to the College Football Playoff (CFP). However, their season ended with a 31-27 loss to the Miami Hurricanes in the final seconds of the semifinals.

Now the team is looking to the future and has added a wide receiver who has more than 1,000 yards in his career.

Former Virginia Tech Hokies wide receiver Isaiah Spencer announced his commitment to the Rebels on Wednesday. Spencer played just one season at Virginia Tech, during which he recorded 14 receptions for 194 yards. Prior to his time at Virginia Tech, he spent two seasons at Jackson State, where his best performance came in 2024, totaling 660 yards and scoring four touchdowns.

Spencer’s commitment gives Ole Miss a proven, experienced option in a wide receiver room that will likely undergo changes this offseason. With his background across multiple programs, he brings versatility and maturity that could help stabilize the offense during a transition period.

His addition also signals that Ole Miss intends to remain aggressive in the transfer portal following its breakthrough season. Rather than rebuilding, the Rebels appear focused on supplementing their roster with players who can contribute immediately and keep the program nationally relevant.

As offseason workouts and spring practice approach, Spencer will have an opportunity to carve out a defined role in the offense. How quickly he integrates could play a key role in shaping Ole Miss’s offensive identity heading into the 2026 season.
