Pitt quarterback Mason Heintschel is making history during a record-setting sophomore season.

Heintschel became the first quarterback in ACC history to throw for at least six touchdowns in multiple games in the same season after tossing six touchdown passes in Pitt's 59-0 win over Bucknell on Saturday.

The performance marked Heintschel's second six-touchdown game of the season. He opened the year by throwing seven touchdown passes against Miami (Ohio), breaking the ACC's single-game record for touchdown passes.

Heintschel is also the first FBS quarterback to record multiple games with at least six touchdown passes in a season since 2021, when C.J. Stroud and Bailey Zappe each accomplished the feat.

His latest performance also put him in rare ACC company. Clemson's Deshaun Watson is the only other ACC quarterback to record multiple games with at least six touchdown passes in his career, doing so in 2014 and 2016.

Heintschel finished Saturday's game 29-of-37 passing for 403 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions. He also added 33 rushing yards on three carries before giving way to backup Holden Geriner midway through the third quarter.

Three of Heintschel's touchdown passes went to Censere Lee, while Demetrice McCray caught two and Carson Kent caught one.

The performance came as a bounce-back for Heintschel, who had struggled during Pitt's previous two games against UCF and Syracuse. He completed 28 of 52 passes for 335 yards with no touchdown passes and one interception across those contests.

Heintschel's resurgence helped Pitt put together a historic offensive performance of its own. The Panthers totaled 766 yards, including a program-record 574 passing yards. Pitt's eight total passing touchdowns also tied an ACC single-game record.

The Panthers improved to 4-0 with the victory and completed their second undefeated nonconference schedule in program history.

Now, Heintschel and the Panthers turn their attention to ACC play. Pitt's first conference game comes Friday night on the road against Virginia Tech, which also enters the matchup at 4-0.
