The 2026 football season for the Auburn Tigers is on the horizon. As we anticipate the start of the season, let's introduce you to a key member of the 2026 roster.
The final Auburn Tiger to be profiled this offseason may be the most important player on the roster. Byrum Brown follows head coach Alex Golesh to the Plains from USF, where he will look to shine during his final season of college eligibility.
The quarterback position has been a sensitive topic around Auburn football over the last few seasons, as several transfers have not lived up to the hype before they took the field in orange and blue. Brown looks to change how transfer quarterbacks are viewed at Auburn, and has the credentials to do so.
Brown turned in the only 3,000-yard passing, 1,000-yard rushing season in college football last season, passing for 3,158 yards and rushing for 1,008 yards while scoring 42 total touchdowns. Only two quarterbacks in Auburn history have ever passed for over 3,000 yards in a single season; Brown has accomplished the feat twice in his career, once in 2023 and again in 2025.
If his stats do not convince you that he is capable of leading the Tigers' offense to success, he will also have his former offensive coordinator and four of his top five wide receivers from last season at his disposal, making him the most comfortable transfer quarterback in the SEC, and maybe even the whole nation.
