What's better than one edible mascot whose only wish is to be eaten in front of thousands after a college football bowl game? How about six edible mascots, with fans being able to vote on which team of three will be consumed live following the game?
If that does anything for you, then the 2025 Pop-Tarts Bowl is about to be your must-watch sporting event before the year ends. The contest, which takes place Dec. 27, will feature six edible mascots this year, per The Athletic.
Those six mascots will be sorted into two teams of three — Team Sprinkles and Team Swirls — with fans voting on which team will be eaten after the game. The Pop-Tarts Bowl is billing it as the "biggest sacrifice ever."

The Pop-Tarts Bowl has not announced which flavors will make appearances during the game.
The Pop-Tarts Bowl has existed under other names since 1990. It's been known as the Sunshine Classic, Citrus Bowl and Florida Bowl, among other names, over the years.
But the game gained massive popularity in 2023, when it was announced that Pop-Tarts would sponsor it. In celebration of that news, the brand decided to introduce the world to the "first-ever edible mascot," a strawberry Pop-Tart that desired to be eaten. After the game was over, the mascot was lowered into a giant toaster. Players then consumed a fake replica of the mascot on the field.
The event — and the images it created — was beautiful and horrific.

The Pop-Tarts Bowl stepped up its game last year, with three mascots appearing at the contest. Only one could be eaten, and fans were allowed to vote on which Pop-Tart achieved that honor. Cinnamon Roll was the "winner."
In its third year since the rebrand, the Pop-Tarts Bowl is escalating things to an extreme. The event will see double the edible mascots in attendance, with half of them being eaten after the game. Maybe that's overkill … or maybe it's just what certain college football fans wants to see after binge-watching bowl games at the end of the year.
