With the early signing period less than two months away, Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies are looking to put a bow on their third-straight top-25 class. According to Rivals, the Huskies boast the No. 21 recruiting class in the 2027 cycle, up one spot from the site's previous ranking.
After bringing in the highest-rated class in program history in 2026, the Huskies carried their recent success on the recruiting trail into 2027. The class, highlighted by nine four-stars (per Rivals and the Rivals Industry rankings), ranks seventh in the Big Ten, trailing Oregon, Ohio State, Michigan, USC, UCLA, and Penn State. While Washington has always had success in top talent throughout the West Coast, the player personnel department has made it clear that they are looking to expand their footprint.
Headlined by four-star prospects Censere Gaylord and Tre Moore, Fisch and his staff went nationwide to reel in the pair of highly touted recruits. Gaylord, a four-star cornerback, is originally from Southern California but plays for the prestigious IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, while Moore decided to bring his talents to Montlake while prepping at Texas' Pflugerville Weiss High School.
Not only does the pair of commits speak to the effort of Fisch and his assistants, defensive back coach John Richardson and wide receiver coach Kevin Cummings, but it also proves that Washington can compete with some of the top programs in the nation from a recruiting standpoint.
Gaylord, who committed in July, chose UW over a pair of southeastern programs in Georgia and Georgia Tech. As for Moore, the dynamic pass catcher who shows the potential to be an immediate impact for UW, he pledged to Washington over powerhouse programs Miami and Ohio State. With the recent success of schools like UGA, Miami, and the Buckeyes, being able to sway talent away from those programs is an encouraging sign for the future of UW's talent acquisition capabilities.
While picking up major victories in recruiting is crucial when trying to return a program to natural relevance, developing and maintaining that talent is an entirely different game in this era of college football. Despite struggles through the early parts of Big Ten play, quality production from key underclassmen has been one of the highlights of the season thus far.
As those young pieces slowly turn into veteran leaders, Washington has continued to take the proper steps towards becoming a consistent threat in the conference.
