President Trump Annoys College Football Fans With Power Move

President Trump signed an executive order for the Army vs. Navy college football game earlier this week.
The order demands an exclusive broadcasting window for the historic rivalry game. President Trump is likely attempting to get ahead of potential College Football Playoff expansion that could conflict with "America's Game," pushing up the schedule into earlier in December. There has been growing talk of games between No. 16 and No. 13 and one between seeds No. 15 and No. 14, on the day of Army-Navy.
The College Football Playoff will remain at 12 games for 2026, though it could expand to 16 teams or more for 2027 and beyond.
“Such scheduling conflicts weaken the national focus on our Military Service Academies and detract from a morale-building event of vital interest to the Department of War,” the order reads.
“Accordingly, it is the policy of the United States that no college football game, specifically college football’s CFP or other postseason games, be broadcast in a manner that directly conflicts with the Army‑Navy Game.”
But some fans – and some sports media – are annoyed with President Trump's power move in 2026.
ESPN's Stephen A. Smith was among those to sound off.
"Who the hell does this man think he is? Every single time I try to be fair and fair-minded to this president, he pulls some BS like this. It really p—– me off. It really p—– me off. Who the hell does he think he is?" Smith said, per Awful Announcing.
"If the Army-Navy game is on NBC, FOX and CBS should be excluded from having its own content on its networks? Because the president issued some executive order that he doesn’t want anything competing with Army-Navy, that he wants the focus of the sports world on Army-Navy. Well, what if they don’t want that? What if they don’t want to watch Army-Navy? Who the hell is he to tell the broadcast world, ‘Nah, not at this time.’
"Who the hell does he think he is? It’s that kinda BS that’s got our country in a tizzy right now. That right there. Because you overstepping your damn bounds. Don’t you got enough things to be focused on? Now you trying to tell us what damn football games we should watch?! Who the hell does he think he is?"
College football fans annoyed by the move, too
College football fans are annoyed by the move, as well.
"Anything but focusing on real issues," one fan wrote.
"If only there were many more important things going on than the Army/Navy game," one fan added.
"Feels like federal overreach," one fan added.
"Stay in your lane," one fan added.
"He doesn't even have that power…EOs dont do that. If auburn wants to play tulane that weekend, an order of the potus cant prevent that. No executive agency sets cfb schedules," one fan added.
Is the President of the United States doing too much?
