President Trump Refuses To Change Plans For Georgia vs. Alabama Despite Tropical Storm

Tropical Storm Isaias is expected to wreak havoc on the Southeastern U.S. this weekend and potentially interfere with Saturday’s massive Georgia-Alabama game. With President Donald Trump slated to attend the game in person, will the weather change his plans?

The answer is no.

According to Front Office Sports, President Trump still plans on attending the Georgia-Alabama game in Tuscaloosa despite the potential for disruptions. Per the report, neither the Southeastern Conference (SEC) or University of Alabama are planning on moving or postponing the game despite the forecast.

“President Trump still plans to attend Saturday’s Georgia–Alabama game despite potential disruption from Tropical Storm Isaias, a White House official told FOS,” the outlet shared on X. “The SEC and Alabama are monitoring the weather, but there are no current plans to move or postpone the game.”

President Trump at College Games

Saturday’s game between Alabama and Georgia (assuming everything goes on as planned) will be the 10th college football game that President Trump has attended while in office. It will be the second time that he’s attended an Alabama-Georgia matchup and the second time that he’s attended a game in Tuscaloosa.

‘Bama fans may or may not need to worry about the “Trump jinx” that some sports fans have complained about recently. The last time he attended an Alabama-Georgia game was the 2018 national title game, where Alabama came from behind to win it all in overtime.

That said, his second Alabama game was their 2019 loss to LSU in Tuscaloosa.

So Alabama is 1-0 in games he attends where they play Georgia and 0-1 in games he attends in Tuscaloosa. One of those trends is going to shift this weekend.

As far as Tropical Storm Isaias goes, it’s currently expected to “rapidly intensify” over the next few days and make landfall by around Friday. Heavy rain and damaging winds are expected to strike the entire region from Louisiana to the Florida panhandle – with nearly all of Alabama directly in its path.

“Tropical Storm Isaias has formed in the Gulf and is expected to rapidly intensify during the next few days, becoming a significant hurricane before making landfall along the northern Gulf Coast. Storm surge, heavy rain and damaging winds threaten the Gulf Coast states from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle,” The Weather Channel reported today.

Hopefully they don’t have to suspend the big game at the last minute.
