Wisconsin landed a key official visit on its late-May recruiting calendar, with 2027 linebacker Nathan Jones set to come to Madison for an official visit May 28-31. Jones, a 3-star prospect listed at 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, gives the Badgers another high-upside defender to get on campus as they build out the next wave of the front seven.

Jones is a priority target for many, including offers from Arizona, Baylor, Florida State, and North Carolina. Wisconsin is getting him in for a multi-day visit that gives the staff time to sell both football fit and long-term development. For a young linebacker early in his recruiting cycle, an official visit in May often signals serious mutual interest and that a program is trying to separate itself from a crowded field.

Linebackers coach Tuff Borland has led Jones’ recruitment for Wisconsin. Borland, a key piece of Luke Fickell’s defensive staff, has prioritized size and physicality at the position, and Jones’ 6-foot-3, 230-pound frame matches what the Badgers like in the middle of the defense. Wisconsin has leaned on linebacker play for decades, and the staff has kept that pipeline a priority as the Big Ten continues to trend bigger and more run-heavy up front.

Jones’ visit runs through May 31, and Wisconsin will look to use the week to build momentum in a recruitment that already includes several national brands. Next up, watch for whether the Badgers can turn that Madison weekend into a return trip and a tighter timeline as Jones’ 2027 recruitment continues to take shape.
