The Washington Huskies are looking to make some big upgrades along their defensive line in the 2027 class, but saw one of their priority targets, three-star Montana Toilolo, commit to the UCLA Bruins on Thursday afternoon.
The 6-foot-3, 260-pound product of Mater Dei High School in Southern California, who is ranked as the nation's No. 64 defensive lineman and No. 38 player in California by 247Sports, chose coach Bob Chesney and Washington's current Big Ten and former Pac-12 foes out of a group of finalists that also included Arizona, Miami, Notre Dame, and Oregon.
He had set official visits to all of those programs outside of the Ducks, and was set to take his trip to Montlake on June 5. However, following his pledge, he'll only take his trip to Westwood.

As defensive coordinator Ryan Walters and the rest of Jedd Fisch's coaching staff look to continue upgrading their front line, Toilolo had emerged as a priority target in what is a deep, talented crop of defensive linemen in California in the 2027 class. Three-star Matamatagi Uiagalelei, who announced his pledge to the Huskies in late February, was considering changing his official visit date in an attempt to help sell his Mater Dei teammate on Washington.
However, for the time being, Uiagalelei and four-star defensive tackle Jon Ioane remain as the two commits in a class where the Huskies are looking to take five or six players along the defensive front.
Washington currently has official visits lined up with three uncommitted defensive linemen: four-star defensive tackle Tevita Nonu, and three-star edge rushers Troy Mailo and Jag Ioane.
