The Georgia Bulldogs are set to lose their sixth defensive back to the transfer portal. Freshman cornerback Dominick Kelly has entered the portal, according to Matt Zenitz. Kelly still has three more seasons of eligibility.
Kelly was a four-star defensive back from IMG Academy. He had originally committed to the USC Trojans on March 24, 2024, but eventually flipped to the Georgia Bulldogs on July 29, 2024. He wanted to join the Bulldogs so bad that he reclassified from the class of 2026 to 2025 to do it.
His first season showed major promise with the Georgia Bulldogs. He played the most snaps in Georgia’s 35-14 win over the Kentucky Wildcats. According to Pro Football Focus (premium subscription needed), He allowed just one reception for a five-yard touchdown on four targets, including two pass breakups. He showed a lot of promise throughout the season and was expected to compete with Demello Jones and Ellis Robinson for a starting role in 2026.
Georgia is overhauling their secondary. They’ve landed transfer commitments from Clemson safety Khalil Barnes, ECU safety Ja’Marley Riddle, Oklahoma cornerback Gentry Williams, and USC cornerback Braylon Conley.
As a result, Kelly becomes one of six Georgia defensive backs to enter the transfer portal. Adrian Maddox (Kansas State), Jaden Harris (Kansas), and Ondre Evans (NC State) have all found new destinations, while Daniel Harris has yet to transfer to a new team.
