Ranking Georgia football home games from worst to best

The Georgia Bulldogs host seven home games during the 2026 college football season. Georgia has a fun home schedule that features four SEC opponents, one ACC opponent and two non-Power Four opponents.
Georgia gets Sanford Stadium warmed up with games against Tennessee State and Western Kentucky to start the season. Georgia fans get attend those games for a reasonable price, but inferior opponents paired with potentially hot September weather makes Georgia's first two home games much less desirable to attend than the rest of Georgia's schedule.
Our pick for Georgia's best home game of the season is the Oklahoma game. Georgia hosts Oklahoma in clash of two top-10 teams in the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll. Georgia fans can only hope the game will be as exciting as the 2017 season Rose Bowl game against Oklahoma.
Beyond the Oklahoma game, Georgia hosts Georgia Tech, Auburn, Missouri and Vanderbilt this fall. All of those games could end up as top-25 matchups. Each of those opponents got votes in the coaches poll and has the talent to compete with Georgia.
7. Western Kentucky Hilltoppers
Georgia's Week 2 matchup with Western Kentucky may be more competitive than many fans think. Georgia rarely looks to crush (or cover the spread against) inferior opponents that aren't in the Power Four. The Bulldogs should breeze past Western Kentucky ahead of Georgia's SEC opener against Arkansas.

6. Tennessee State Tigers
Tennessee State is Georgia's only Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) opponent this fall. So why do we have the Tennessee State game ranked better than the Western Kentucky game? Well, it is Georgia's home opener and that just makes it a little bit more exciting even though the Western Kentucky game may be slightly more competitive.

5. Vanderbilt Commodores
Georgia's 2026 game against Vanderbilt stands out as a potential trap game. Georgia plays Vanderbilt after hosting Oklahoma and before playing at Alabama. That timing and this being an early kickoff stands out as reasons Georgia could struggle.
The Commodores showed a lot of fight in 2025 and still have enough talent to make this one interesting. Former five-star Georgia quarterback commitment Jared Curtis likely won't get a kind welcoming at Sanford Stadium.

4. Missouri Tigers
Missouri is the No. 25 team in the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll. Georgia hosts Missouri a week after playing Ole Miss and this should be a competitive game. Missouri could be Georgia's second-best home game of the season if things fall right, but we're putting rivalry games over the Missouri game even though the Tigers may be a better quality opponent.

3. Auburn Tigers
Don't sleep on Auburn in the SEC this year. The Tigers could have their best quarterback in recent years in Byrum Brown.
The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry is always a good atmosphere. Georgia has won nine straight in the series and Auburn has not won in Sanford Stadium since 2005!

2. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Georgia Tech returns to Sanford Stadium for the first time since Georgia's stunning comeback win over the Yellow Jackets in eight overtimes back in 2024. Coach Brent Key and the Georgia Tech probably aren't Georgia's second-best home opponent, but Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate is always a fun game to attend if you find yourself in the Peach State around Thanksgiving.

1. Oklahoma Sooners
Georgia's SEC home opener. The first time Oklahoma and Georgia play against each other as members of the SEC. Two teams that made the College Football Playoff last season. Two Heisman candidates at quarterback in John Mateer and Gunner Stockton. The Georgia-Oklahoma game is Georgia's most expensive home game to attend for good reason.
