Rate Bowl History, Winners and MVPs

By several names, the Rate Bowl – or the Insight, or Copper, or Buffalo Wild Wings, or Cheez-It – it's been an interesting bowl through the years.
It almost always features big conference teams that are, for the most part, happy to be in it, and once in a while, it comes up with something amazing – on both ends.
The Kansas State 44-41 win over Rutgers in 2024 was a blast, the Iowa pick six to beat Missouri in 2010 was wild, Aaron Rodgers throwing for almost 400 yards in Cal's 52-49 walk-off win over Virginia Tech in 2003 was insane, and …
TCU's 10-7 overtime win over Cal in 2018 might have been the ugliest-played sporting event in the history of human existence.
Below is the long and interesting history of Rate Bowl winners, along with the MVPs.
