MADISON – The only season Joseph Griffin got on the field for the Wisconsin Badgers was marred by injury.

The redshirt junior receiver sat out the 2024 season, per NCAA transfer rules. This season he played a handful of snaps in most of the early games, but missed the final seven contests due to injury.

On Dec. 9, the 6-foot-4, 210-pounder from Springfield, Massachusetts, announced he will enter the transfer portal. He has one year of eligibility left.

Griffin's size helped make him a quality red zone and jump-ball target during spring ball and fall camp, but he didn’t get many opportunities in games. He finished the season with one catch for 5 yards. According to Pro Football Focus, he was targeted twice this season.

Griffin made 43 catches for 579 yards and six touchdowns in two seasons at Boston College.

He shared decision to transfer on X. His statement read, in part:

“First I want to give all glory to God for blessing me with the chance to play this game at a high level. I’d like to thank Coach Fickell for giving me the opportunity to be part of the Wisconsin family and experience the Big Ten. Coach Reid and Coach Guiton – Thank you both for your encouragement, guidance and belief in me. It was truly an honor to work with you.”
