Alabama football is establishing aggressive momentum on the College Football Recruiting trail. The Crimson Tide and head coach Kalen DeBoer already beat out LSU for four-star running back Nigel Newkirk. ‘Bama beat LSU again Monday, this time for reclassified linebacker Dustin “Boosh” Henry.
The 6-foot-4 ‘backer will graduate in 2028 instead of 2029. He made his reclassified decision during the spring. The star from St. Frances Academy in Laurel, Maryland confirmed his decision to join Alabama’s ’28 class with Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals.
Alabama lands the state of Maryland’s No. 20 overall talent by the national outlet. Co-defensive coordinator Maurice Linguist ran point on his recruitment to the Crimson Tide.
Henry even shares a rare connection with one past Tide star. He plays for the same high school that produced prized five-star safety Jireh Edwards. DeBoer and his coaching staff landed the nation’s No. 2 overall safety for the 2026 class and officially enrolled on campus Jan. 7.
Henry plays the very position that turned Edwards into a breakout prep star out east. Except he’s also bounced to linebacker and presents needed positional versatility for this 4-2-5 defense. He’s likely to contend for the “Husky” role, often reserved for the defender who can cover wide receivers as a nickelback and play downhill at linebacker.
Alabama suddenly has a growing 2028 class after the Henry verbal commitment. The Crimson Tide started May by landing three-star quarterback Charles Scott. The 6-foot-5 signal-caller turned down Georgia, Virginia Tech and Maryland for the Tide.
Henry turns down more than LSU in this scenario. Oregon also landed on his final short list. Fellow Big Ten school UCLA and even Maryland offered too.
