Spring practices are set to begin this week for the Michigan Wolverines, which means you can expect to hear a lot of news about recruits visiting Ann Arbor in the coming weeks. That includes today, as a recruit formerly committed to another Big Ten team is set to be at Michigan today for the first time.
Former PSU commit visiting Michigan today
2027 four-star safety Gabe Jenkins is set to take his first trip to Michigan today. The former Penn State commit — who decommitted not long after James Franklin was let go — has a new top list that still includes the Nittany Lions, along with Michigan, Colorado, USC, UCLA, Virginia Tech and Pitt.
While Penn State is still under consideration, it sounds like Michigan has made a big impression on him. Speaking with On3’s Ethan McDowell ($), Jenkins detailed his interest in the Wolverines and his relationship with new safeties coach Tyler Stockton.
“Michigan definitely checks the relationships, the bond and the family,” Jenkins said. “I told them, definitely, family is the number one, so they make sure they take care of that, too.
“(Stockton) keeps it real. He’s an old school guy.”
Jenkins already has official visits set to Colorado, Virginia Tech and Penn State. Michigan could get on his schedule for the summer if all goes well today.
“Michigan is a good school,” Jenkins said. “I always liked them when I was a kid, watching them play when I was like six and I was like ‘Yeah, this is a nice school.’ It’s going to be my first time going up there. Hopefully I enjoy it.”
Jenkins hopes to have a final decision made by the Fourth of July.
Four-star OL schedules to visits to Michigan
After being re-offered by the new staff last week, 2027 four-star offensive lineman Sidney Rouleau is set to take a couple trips to Michigan in the near future.
According to The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich ($), Rouleau will visit for the spring game on April 18, and then return for an official visit the weekend of June 5. This will be his first time back in Ann Arbor since last November when he visited for a game.
Rouleau has had quite a journey. He grew up in Canada, came to the United States and initially attended The Pennington School in New Jersey before transferring to The Brook Hill School in Texas prior to last season. All that hard work has paid off, as he has an impressive offer list that includes schools like Ohio State, Miami, Texas, Oregon, Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, Florida and more.
But the Wolverines are standing out at the moment by the sounds of it.
“I’m very interested in them,” Rouleau said. “The most exciting part right now is building a new relationship with coaches.”
The Wolverines have two commits along the interior of the offensive line — three-stars Tristan Dare and Louis Esposito — so Rouleau would be in position to be one of the tackles in this class should be commit to Michigan.
