Happy Sunday Husky fans. The Huskies are set to host a local offensive lineman this week after a break this weekend (due to UW’s graduation happening this weekend). After several busy weekends the Husky coaches got this weekend off and will gear up for a massive weekend next weekend to wrap up official visits.
4 star offensive lineman Rashaun Lavata’i from Curtis Senior HS, WA is set to visit Montlake tomorrow. Lavata’i who has shot up recruiting boards after some good showings at camps the last several months. The Huskies jumped in and offered Lavata’i and are battling WSU, Oregon State and Utah for a commitment from Lavata’i. Listed at 6’6’ and around 265 pounds Lavata’i looks destined for offensive tackle in college. The Huskies get the 3rd visit for Lavata’i who will wrap up his visits with Oregon State next weekend and then come to a decision. If the Huskies push you have to think they will be viewed as the favorite for him. On3 has as the #118 best prospect in the country and 9th best offensive tackle. Lavata’i is an intriguing prospect who has all the talent to be a future college tackle and would be a great pickup if the Huskies can land him.
Speaking of the offensive line the Huskies have only 1 offensive line commit but this next weekend the Huskies will host the balance of their offensive line recruits. Gecova Doyal from Puyallup HS, WA, Lincoln Mageo from Oceanside HS, CA, DaJohn Yarborough from Basha HS, AZ, and Tye Kennedy from Mountain View HS, AZ will all be on campus to check out Montlake (all are rated as 3 star prospects). The Huskies are battling Oregon in their quest to land Doyal who looks like a potential monster at offensive guard. Mageo who is one of the top offensive lineman in California in the 2027 class has been interested in UW a ton but has Michigan and Utah pushing hard for him. Yarborough has been a top target for the Huskies and looks like a potential early contributor in college. The Huskies are battling Mississippi State, Florida State, and Cal in their efforts to land Yarborough. Kennedy, who is a legacy Husky recruit, is looking at Stanford, Utah, Michigan, and UW. The Huskies appear to be the favorite for Kennedy and they would love to land Kennedy.
It goes without saying that next weekend will be huge for the Huskies in their quest for their offensive line class in 2027. It sounds like the Huskies will look at add 3-4 more recruits on top of Russell who will act as the lead recruiter next weekend for his fellow trench mates.
That is all for today and next weekend we will do a deep dive into any additional visitors. As always follow me @asieverkropp for recruiting news.
