Welcome to the Recruiting Roundup, our three-times-per-week series breaking down the latest developments on the recruiting trail for the Michigan Wolverines. We’ll keep you up to date on the top targets, the visits they take, the predictions that analysts make, and everything in between. Here’s what you need to know today…

Michigan trying to flip UConn commit

2027 three-star safety Alan Blackshere committed to UConn back in June, but his recent performance at The Opening Finals last month has led to some heavy interest from Michigan.

And now thanks to the vigorous pursuit from the Wolverines, Blackshere now has an official visit to Ann Arbor slated for Sept. 12, which is when the Wolverines host Oklahoma. 247Sports’ Zach Blostein ($) thinks Michigan has a good chance of flipping Blackshere if that visit goes well.

Before the The Opening Finals in June in Beaverton, Oregon, Blackshere wasn’t getting this type of attention from the Wolverines. However, he had two interceptions and ended up being one of the standout players at the camp, according to 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins ($).

Now, the Wolverines are pursuing Blackshere, and this is something that he’s been wanting for a long time.

“I’m interested enough to take an official visit with them,” Blackshere told The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich ($). “I’ve been watching them since I was little, so it’s really a dream come true.”

Blackshere holds other offers from Notre Dame, Oregon, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Auburn, Nebraska, Florida State, Florida and more.

2028 LB opens up about Michigan offer

The Wolverines recently extended an offer to talented 2028 three-star linebacker Siale Reid after his recent dominance at the Under Armour Next Maui elite camp. Reid already has some impressive offers, but this one feels different to him.

“This one really means a lot to me because of how big they are and the history of Michigan,” Reid told 247Sports’ Blair Angulo ($). “It’s just a school I would love to be at I feel like.”

Right now, Reid is focused on his upcoming high school season. There is a long way to go in his recruitment, and if the Wolverines are going to win him over, communication will be key.

In addition to the Wolverines, Reid said that SMU and Arizona are a pair of schools that have “been pushing for me and we’ve been in contact a lot lately.” Some other schools that have offered Reid are Vanderbilt, Arizona State, UCLA and San Diego State.

Five-star DL talks relationship with Michigan

One of the best players in the 2028 recruiting class is five-star defensive lineman Kellan Hall. Landing a five-star is never easy, but Michigan is beginning the push.

“It’s been good,” Hall told On3’s Ethan McDowell ($). “Coach (Larry) Black has been reaching out a lot and keeping in touch. He’s on vacation right now, but he still keeps in touch every day. He just tells me they got a plan for me and that he really likes me, but he definitely thinks there’s things I can clean up, and that’s something I really respect. A lot of people will praise you, but just to hear that there’s something I can clean up, and he knows he can help me on that and he’s proven to do it is just something that’s special.”

Hall does have some familiarity with Michigan, which is a plus. He hasn’t been to a game in a couple years, but he was impressed the last time he went to one.

“You hear about The Big House, but just seeing it in person, just seeing the fans and energy that they come up with, 100,000-plus deep every time, and they’re going to show up and show out every time,” he said.

Hall is considering a trip to Ann Arbor this fall, and he has his eyes on the Penn State game if he does make it out.
