Happy Sunday to everyone out there. Today I wanted to take a look at who could be the next to commitments in the 2027 class now that the class is at 14 commits and it’s filling up fast. The Huskies will host their first wave of visitors on 5/29 and that is when we will likely start to see more fireworks on the recruiting trail. Here are a couple of players I have my eye on over the next couple of weeks.

Locally 4 star defensive lineman Tevita Nonu from O’Dea HS, WA has been a pretty big Husky lean for a while and the Huskies have been prioritizing him heavily. Nonu has 3 official visits scheduled including one to UCLA this weekend, and one to Arizona in on May 29th, and UW on June 5th. Under Coach Fisch and his staff the Huskies have been putting in a ton of effort to try and keep local talent home and if they can land a commit from Nonu they will have secured the top player in the state for the 3rd consecutive year (after landing Derek Colman-Brusa last year and Zaydrius Rainey-Sale the year before). Nonu is rated as the 30th best defensive lineman in the country by 247sports and there have been some reports that he will decide in the next couple of weeks.

Another player to keep a close eye on is 4 star wide receiver Dontay Tyson from Peoria HS, AZ. Tyson, who has narrowed his recruitment down to Texas A&M, and UW is one of the top playmakers from the state of Arizona in the 2027 class and has been a top Husky target for a while. Listed at 6’1” and around 190 pounds, Tyson has the size and speed to be an excellent outside wideout in college. The Huskies will get the first crack at him on the 29th followed by Texas A&M on the 12th of June. I would expect a decision in June from Tyson. The Huskies already have 2 wide outs committed in the 2027 class and they are after some big fish at wide receiver.

I would also keep a close eye on 3 star cornerback Kamil Loud from Bishop Gorman HS, NV. Loud, who has seen his recruiting profile skyrocket over the last several months, has official visits set to UW, ASU, and Utah with the Huskies getting his first visit. Listed at close to 6’1” and around 170 pounds, Loud is one of the top cornerbacks in the west in the 2027 class and the Huskies are looking to add another longer cornerback to the class (they are also after Jailen Hill and Censere Gaylord both 4 star cornerbacks who will visit Montlake). With spots tight I could see a scenario where Loud visits UW and shuts down his recruitment and commits to UW. Right now he’s rated as the 60th best cornerback in the class by 247sports, but other services have him rated much higher.

The Huskies currently have the 13th ranked class in the country per 247sports, but I expect that to rise as they land some of their top blue chip prospects this summer. That is all for today and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
