Recruiting Roundup: What’s Left For The Huskies After The Commitment Of Censere Gaylord
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: SEP 14 116th Boeing Apple Cup - Washington State vs Washington

Happy Sunday Husky fans. The Huskies 2027 recruiting class now sits at 24 commits in the 2027 class after the commitment of 4 star cornerback Censere Gaylord yesterday. The class is firmly ranked in the top 25 with 247sports ranking it as the 23rd best class in the country and on3 ranking it as the 20th best class in the country. With not much room left I wanted to look at what could be left for the Huskies over the next several months now that the majority of the class is in the boat.

The Huskies lost out on 4 star wide receiver Osani Gayles who chose Alabama over UW, however now that UW has his teammate from IMG, in Gaylord, there is a strong possibility the Huskies can work to flip Gayles from Alabama. With strong ties to Seattle, with lots of family here, I would not be shocked if UW were able to get into the picture again to try and flip Gayles. This recruitment is definitely one to watch over the coming months and the Huskies would love to add someone with Gayles skillset to their wide receiver corps.

Along the offensive line the Huskies will almost certainly look to add another recruit in the class after missing on DaJohn Yarborough yesterday who committed to Cal over UW. The Huskies already have a strong 3 man front with Reis Russell, Gecova Doyal, and Tye Kennedy and their plan has always been to add at least 4 offensive lineman to the class, barring something unexpected to happen. So who could be the 4th offensive lineman in the class? One name floated has been local 3 star offensive lineman Ben Rainwater from Inglemoor HS who is currently committed to Boise State. Rainwater is an interesting player who has the frame to to grow into a solid offensive tackle (he’s listed at 6’6” and around 280 pounds). I also wouldn’t be surprised if the Huskies circle back on 4 star offensive lineman Rashaun Lavata’i and see if they can flip him WSU after he decided he wanted to head to the palouse rather than come to Montlake. Both players will be interesting to monitor to see if the Huskies can add them to their 2027 class.

Another interesting prospect to monitor over the coming weeks and months is 3 star athlete J’Isaiah Mitchell from Puyallup HS, WA who is currently committed to Boise State. Mitchell, who recently camped at UW and was offered as a cornerback after camp, has intriguing size for a defensive back (he’s listed at 6’5” and around 185 pounds). The Huskies already have 4 defensive backs in the 2027 class, including 2 corners in Maurice Williams and Gaylord, but they don’t have someone with the size of Mitchell the Huskies are likely kicking the tires as an intriguing player to add and develop in the defensive back room (they previously offered him as a WR and the new offer as a DB is a sign that they believe he has potential to be a solid cornerback).

Overall the Huskies don’t need to add a ton to fill out the 2027 class which is balanced and deep at almost every position. I could see the Huskies looking at adding an edge who can rush the passer and create some havoc and if they do I will make sure to mention those names here. That is all for today and as always follow me @asieverkropp for recruiting news and notes on X.
