Report: FSU OT Lucas Simmons to enter Transfer Portal

Florida State football continues to see attrition, and the latest name to add his name to the expected transfer list is former blue-chip offensive tackle Lucas Simmons:
There were big expectations for Simmons in Tallahassee, but he never got an extended look outside of garbage-time for one reason or another.

2025 (Redshirt Sophomore): Appeared in all 12 games as reserve offensive lineman and on special teams…took 81 offensive snaps as Florida State produced the most-improved offense from a season ago…after the regular season, Florida State had the nation’s No. 9 offense (472.1 yards per game), No. 13 rushing offense (218.7 yards per game, the most at FSU since 1995) and No. 26 scoring offense (33.0 points per game)…FSU led the ACC in total and rushing offense…offensive line held three opponents – Alabama, Virginia Tech and NC State – without a sack, FSU’s most games without allowing a sack since 2022…FSU ran for 230 yards and four touchdowns against No. 8 Alabama…Noles had four consecutive games to begin season with 230 rushing yards and at least three rushing touchdowns, the longest streak in school history…offense produced 368 passing yards and 361 rushing yards vs. East Texas A&M…Noles set program records with 498 rushing yards, eight rushing touchdowns and 27 rushing first downs in 66-10 win over Kent State…FSU was only team in country with multiple games scoring 65 points…775 yards of offense vs. Kent State was most in country for any team…498 rushing yards vs. Kent State was tops in nation…Noles surpassed 700 yards in consecutive games for first time in FSU history, had three consecutive games over 500 yards for the first time since 2013 and had seven straight games with at least 400 yards of offense.
2024 (Redshirt Freshman): Appeared in all 12 games, primarily on field goals and extra points…made Florida State debut in season opener vs. Georgia Tech in Dublin…kicker Ryan Fitzgerald was a finalist for the Lou Groza Award, given to the nation’s top kicker, and was a first-team All-American after a perfect season…Fitzgerald was 13-for-13 on field goals – most in the country without a miss – and connected on all 14 point after tries…Seminole offense averaged 4.4 yards per play and 270.3 yards per game.
2023 (Freshman): Worked with FSU’s scout team while redshirting.
BEFORE FSU: Consensus four-star recruit…ranked as nation’s No. 9 offensive tackle prospect by 247Sports and 10th nationally on 247Sports Composite and On3 Consensus…ranked 62nd overall nationally and 14th in Florida by 247Sports…rated 13th among offensive tackles and 30th overall from Florida by ESPN…ranked 126th in ESPN300…tabbed 32nd in Florida and 150th overall nationally by On3…selected for Under Armour All-America Game following senior year…blocked for Clearwater Academy offense that averaged 37.9 points, 215.8 passing yards and 198.2 rushing yards per game while earning 10-1 record in 2022…helped Knights play for Sunshine State Independent Association title behind 10-win season his first year…originally from Sweden, played handball and soccer in addition to football…son of Able Simmons, who played offensive line at Oklahoma from 1996-98.
