Report: Michigan Football’s bowl game destination revealed

We have to wait until Sunday afternoon before it’s officially official, but according to On3’s Brett McMurphy, Michigan will be headed to the Sunshine State for bowl season.

McMurphy reported on Saturday afternoon that the Wolverines will be playing in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida against a to be determined SEC team.

This was an inevitability, as all the bowl projections over the last few weeks had Michigan penciled in to be the Big Ten representative in the Citrus Bowl.

It’s unclear which team will represent the SEC in this game, but all signs are pointing toward Michigan’s opponent being the Texas Longhorns. Of course, we have to wait and see what all goes down during conference championship Saturday, but the experts strongly believe the Wolverines will be taking on Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns for a second consecutive season.

The Wolverines last placed in the Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1, 2020 against Alabama, losing that game, 35-16. Michigan also played the Citrus Bowl in Jim Harbaugh’s first season as head coach on Jan. 1, 2016, defeating the Florida Gators in blowout fashion, 41-7.
