As the offseason always does, there was going to be inevitable attrition from Notre Dame’s program and it wasn’t just going to involve players, staff members are included as well.

That’s what happened on Thursday, as Mike Singer is reporting that Javaughn Codlin, who was named by 247Sports as one of the top 30-under-30 coaches, will be leaving to coach safeties on the North Texas staff. This should be viewed as a big loss, as his relationship with recruits helped bring some of the best nationally to South Bend including Khary Adams and Joey O’Brien in the 2026 class.

Codlin has previously been with the West Virginia coaching staff, as he was a graduate assistant there for two seasons before joining Notre Dame’s. Codlin left his mark in South Bend and his absence will surely be missed. We wish him the best, and potentially a reunion with the Irish is in the future.
