Starting offensive guard Kelvin Obot will be out against Houston, according to a report by ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Obot appeared to injure his ankle early in Utah’s win at Colorado last Saturday. The freshman had to be helped off the field and was unable to place any weight on it.
Postgame, Utah coach Morgan Scalley said that, “Kelvin Obot went out and he should be fine. It’s an ankle, still trying to figure out if it’s going to be a high ankle sprain or whatever that is.”
On Wednesday, however, Thamel reported that Obot will be out for No. 10 Utah’s matchup vs. No. 14 Houston.
Starting in Obot’s place should be senior Solatoa Moea’i, who filled in for the freshman against Colorado and received a 52.4 grade from Pro Football Focus after giving up a sack.
Moea’i started the first three games of the season before coaches decided to start Obot at the left guard position.
