The Oklahoma Sooners’ 2027 recruiting class currently ranks No. 1 in the nation, according to 247Sports. The Sooners are looking to build upon that start in the cycle in their pursuit of four-star safety Jaylen Scott. Back in February, Rivals Chad Simmons and Sam Spiegelman issued predictions favoring the Sooners, and it doesn’t look like things are slowing down. On3’s vice president of recruiting and transfer portal, Steve Wiltfong, joined his colleagues at Rivals with a prediction favoring the Sooners.

This latest prediction came down minutes after the Sooners secured a commitment from blue-chip linebacker prospect Cooper Witten. Scott is scheduled to be in town for an official visit as part of Oklahoma’s junior day this weekend.

Scott, out of Mobile, Ala., decommitted from the Auburn Tigers on Dec. 2. Auburn went through a coaching change this season, moving on from Hugh Freeze and hiring Alex Golesh. The Sooners originally offered Scott in August of 2025 and have been heavily in pursuit, according to Rivals Sam Spiegelman.

He’s the No. 10 safety and the No. 113 overall player in the class, according to 247Sports. Rivals has Scott as the No. 27 safety in the class and the No. 246 player in the cycle. Scott holds offers from 15 Power Four schools.

Jaylen Scott Recruiting Profile

Jaylen Scott scouting report

Scott’s a versatile defensive back prospect. He plays middle of the field safety and will play outside cornerback. He displays incredible tracking skills when the ball is in the air. Scott has good instincts in coverage and the ability to create turnovers in the passing game. He’s a physical and willing tackler in run support.

He looks like a natural fit as the deep middle safety in Brent Venables defense, someone who’s shown the ability to make plays on the football and create turnovers. The Sooners look to be the frontrunners in his recruitment at this point.
