Riverdale 3-star QB Gavin Hampton commits to Mississippi State football

Riverdale quarterback Gavin Hampton committed to Mississippi State football as a part of the 2027 class, he announced on social media on June 19.

Hampton, 6-foot-4 and 207 pounds, chose the Bulldogs over offers from North Carolina, Arizona State, Nebraska and Colorado.

The quarterback is set to make an official visit to Mississippi State this weekend.

He recently reclassified to the 2027 recruiting class, and 2026 will be his final high school football season.

Hampton is rated as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports and a top-50 quarterback in the 2027 class. He is Mississippi State's second QB commitment in the class.

Hampton was the Region 3-6A Offensive MVP, throwing for 2,663 yards and 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2025. He led Riverdale to a 8-2 regular-season record last year before a second-round loss to Maryville in the TSSAA football playoffs.
