Alabama football coach Kalen DeBoer delivered some encouraging injury news Monday, ahead of the Crimson Tide’s Rose Bowl appearance against Indiana, regarding a pair of the Crimson Tide‘s top defensive linemen.

Team captain Tim Keenan, who needed assistance getting off the field in the second half of UA’s 34-24 College Football Playoff win over Oklahoma, has a lower-extremity injury that should not prevent him from playing against IU on New Years Day.

“I know Tim was a little bit sore after the game, but I’m expecting he’ll be good to go. He’ll maybe still be working through (an issue) here early in the week, but we’ve got some time,” DeBoer said.

Overton has missed the last two games with an undisclosed medical issue. But, according to DeBoer, a return for the senior is possible.

“LT, we just continue to monitor him. I’m definitely not ruling him out right now, but we’ll continue to evaluate him and see how things go in the days ahead,” DeBoer added.

Overton ranks second on the team in sacks with four, but hasn’t played since the Crimson Tide’s 27-20 road win at archrival Auburn. DeBoer also said defensive back Red Morgan should be healthy enough to play against the Hoosiers as well. Like Keenan, Morgan also sustained a lower-extremity injury and was evaluated in the medical tent during UA’s win over Oklahoma.
