Rutgers RB Antwan Raymond Confirms His 2026 Return

Star running back Antwan Raymond is set to return to the Scarlet Knights for the 2026 college football season, which was confirmed by Raymond himself on X, ending any speculation about his departure and cementing his place as a cornerstone of Rutgers’ offense next year.

The Montreal, Quebec native enjoyed a breakout 2025 campaign, finishing with 1,241 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns while earning Second-Team All-Big Ten honors and winning the prestigious Jon Cornish Trophy as college football’s top Canadian player.

Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano and the Scarlet Knights’ coaching staff have prioritized building around Raymond’s hard-nosed, productive rushing attack. With his combination of physicality, vision, and leadership, Raymond figures to be one of the most dynamic offensive weapons in the Big Ten next season.

In 2025, Raymond also earned recognition as a Doak Walker Award semifinalist and was named Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week after a memorable 240-yard performance against Maryland. Those accolades underscore his status as one of the premier rushers in college football.

Following the departure of Ian Strong in the transfer portal, the Scarlet Knights have seen the return of two starting offensive linemen in left tackle Tyler Needham and right guard Kobe Asamoah. With Raymond’s return as the lead back for Rutgers, the offense is starting to take shape for the 2026 season.

As Rutgers prepares for the season ahead, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely — not just to see how Raymond builds on his already stellar résumé, but to see how his return elevates the Scarlet Knights in one of the most physically demanding conferences in the sport.
