The longtime couple marked their anniversary with loving tributes reflecting on their life together and looking ahead to “46 more” years.
Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson Jackson are celebrating 46 years of marriage after marking their anniversary with affectionate social media posts on Aug. 18.
Jackson, 77, commemorated the occasion by sharing a photo from the couple’s 1980 wedding, showing them smiling beside their wedding cake. He wrote that he loved his wife “with all that I am.”
LaTanya, 76, posted a collection of candid images highlighting her husband’s playful side and moments from their life together. One photo showed Jackson making a face while she fed him cake, while another captured the couple posing near the ocean.
Her anniversary tribute described Jackson as her foundation, rock and forever partner. She also thanked God for their life together and looked ahead to “46 more” years.
The couple married in 1980 after meeting while they were college students in Atlanta. LaTanya attended Spelman College, while Jackson studied at nearby Morehouse College. They welcomed their only child, daughter Zoe, in 1982.
Their relationship has also extended into their professional lives. LaTanya directed Jackson in the 2022 Broadway revival of August Wilson’s “The Piano Lesson,” becoming the first woman to direct a Wilson play on Broadway. She earned her second Tony nomination in 2025 for her performance in “Purpose.”
LaTanya has previously said the couple made an early pact to stay together and raise their family while challenging stereotypes about Black households. Jackson has also spoken publicly about the patience and commitment required to sustain their marriage through difficult periods.
The pair celebrated their 45th anniversary last year with a trip to Cannes, France, sharing photos from a boat and reflecting on the blessings they had experienced together.
