Jayvon Dawson is a Hurricane.
The Santaluces edge rusher verbally committed to the Miami Hurricanes on Monday, May 17, offering the college program a chance to bolster its defense following a season that ended in a national championship appearance.
Dawson, No. 62 in the Florida Top 100 for 2027, had previously narrowed his college search to a top five that included Miami, Georgia, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, and Purdue.

In his junior year, Dawson, a three-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, tallied 68 total tackles, including 22 tackles for a loss, eight sacks, and a forced fumble last season, pacing the Chiefs in all categories.
Those numbers built on a sophomore campaign in which the defender contributed 46 tackles, including five for a loss, four sacks, and an interception.
Miami is coming off of a 13-3 record and a berth in the College Football Playoff national championship last year, having sent a number of players to the NFL via the draft, including first-round pick Rueben Bain Jr. at defensive end.
