The Washington Huskies football team could very well found itself in prime contention for a College Football Playoff spot in the 2026-27 season, which would be the third CFP berth in program history and the first for the team in the current 12-team format.

A lot of the expectation for the Huskies, which includes being listed in several preseason top 25 polls, is due to the level of talent returning to the organization.

Washington is just over a month away from seeing if it can meet those expectations and will begin the season with an Apple Cup showdown against the Washington State Cougars at 1 p.m. PT on Sept. 6 at Husky Stadium in Seattle.

The Huskies will begin the lead-up to the upcoming season, beginning with Big Ten Media Days, which are set to take place from Tuesday through Thursday at the Hilton Chicago.

The event will feature interviews from key players and head coaches for All 18 Big Ten teams. But Washington fans will have to wait until the final day of the event to hear from the group representing the Huskies.

Junior quarterback Demond Williams Jr., senior linebacker Jacob Manu, senior center Landen Hatchett and head coach Jedd Fisch represent the program in Chicago.

In addition to Washington, the final day of Big Ten Media Days on Thursday will also feature defending national champions, the Indiana Hoosiers, the Maryland Terrapins, Michigan Wolverines, Nebraska Cornhuskers and Northwestern Wildcats.

According to a news release from the Big Ten, the conference's commissioner, Tony Petitti, will kick off media days with an address Tuesday. After his statements, coaches will go one-by-one in individual news conferences.

Fisch will have his individual conference Thursday. The coaches' individual segment of media days will take place from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. PT.

Following Fisch and other head coaches' news conferences, the Big Ten Network will host four hours of live programming from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. PT, which will conclude additional comments from coaches as well as players. Hatchett, Williams and Manu will speak during that slate.

Additional coverage will also be available on the Big Ten's social media channels.

Williams will enter his third year with UW and second year as a full-season starter. In his first year as the primary signal-caller for the Huskies last season, he led the Big Ten in total yardage (3,676) and had 31 total touchdowns.

Manu and Hatchett will be looking to close out their respective college careers with a clean bill of health after both missed games last year due to respective injuries. Manu was able to compete in spring practice whereas Hatchett was unable to.
