SEC Football Standings Week 12

Greetings, BBN!

Texas A&M beat Mizzou, Alabama won at LSU, Georgia rolled past Mississippi State, Ole Miss won a gimme-game in an FCS non-con cupcake party with The Citadel, Vanderbilt survived a major scare from Auburn in overtime, and Kentucky chomped Florida for their second SEC win in a row after losing five in a row. No more SEC coaches were fired this week, but it was still a very chaotic and exciting week in the fourth-to-last Saturday of the regular season!

Let’s take a look at the standings heading into Week 12:

Notes:

  • Georgia cannot make the SEC championship game if Texas A&M and Alabama both win out, and neither can Ole Miss, but Texas controls their destiny since they have head-to-head games coming up with Georgia and Texas A&M.
  • Lot more separation in the standings now that we’re deep into the season. The only ties in conference records are for 1st, 10th, and 14th.
  • Kentucky’s win over Florida was their first SEC home win since 2023 (also against Florida), their first time winning back-to-back SEC games since 2023 (Vandy and Florida), and their first time walloping an SEC team by 31+ since 1998 (against Vandy). The Commodores better watch out for the Cats in two weeks!
  • Biggest games next week: Oklahoma at Alabama and Texas at Georgia. Both the Sooners and Longhorns need a win to stay in the CFP race, while the Tide and Bulldogs are trying to improve their positions. Four of the top seven teams facing off with a lot on the line!
  • Teams that cannot make a bowl: Arkansas.
  • Teams that need to win out to make a bowl: Auburn, South Carolina, and Florida.
  • Teams that can make a bowl with some luck: Kentucky and Mississippi State.
  • Teams that are highly likely to make a bowl: LSU.
  • Teams that have clinched a bowl: Everyone else.
