SEC Quarterback Enters Transfer Portal After Major Coaching Change

The LSU Tigers parted ways with head coach Brian Kelly on Oct. 26 and have since seen significant change throughout their football program.

Things started off with the hiring of former Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin.

Kiffin got to work right away, filling out his staff and doing whatever he could to recruit in the final week leading up to the high school early signing period.

As LSU is still on the practice field getting ready for its bowl game against Houston under the previous coaching staff, Kiffin continues to work on his roster for next season.

He is preparing for the transfer portal to open on Jan. 2, and while he anticipates bringing in plenty of new players, he has also lost quite a few.

On Friday, On3’s Pete Nakos reported that quarterback “Tre People is entering the transfer portal.”

People is a true freshman and will have four years of eligibility remaining. He redshirted this season.

This season, People didn’t see any action on the field and was buried well down the depth chart behind Garrett Nussmeier, Michael Van Buren, Colin Hurley and Emile Picarella.

The 6-foot-1, 199-pound quarterback is from Adelanto, California, and attended
Willamette High School.

People was rated as a three-star recruit in the class of 2025 and committed to LSU over Louisville, Maryland, Michigan State and others.

People is one of nine LSU players set to enter the transfer portal.

Some others include Hurley, Carius Curne, Kaleb Jackson, Ju’Juan Johnson, Sydir Mitchell and Ahmad Breaux.
