The SEC media generally is not the best prognosticators at the end of SEC Media Days, but if it caught lightning in a bottle, the Rebels could have another big football season ahead.

You see, all of the media went down to Tampa, Fla. for media days for some long days in hotel conference rooms, maybe some golf, and definitely some cold beers. To me, there are coaches who do a better job selling themselves and their teams to the media and get a little bump in the preseason expectations, which is exactly what I think happened with Pete Golding and Ole Miss.

We’ve already broken down how Golding crushed it behind the podium with several savvy statements to the media and won the press conference in Tampa. Now, the higher expectations will come for his team headed into the 2026 season with a third place finish voted on by the media.

Additionally, several Ole Miss players were selected to the first, second and third team all conference teams led by quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and Kewan Lacy. The athletic department has fully leaned into a Heisman campaign for Chambliss and Lacy, so the hype train is in full swing.
