As a chaotic first day of the NCAA’s 14-day transfer portal window looked to be concluding, Iowa football redshirt junior running back announced late on Friday night that he will be entering the transfer portal, joining fellow Hawkeye running back Terrell Washington Jr. as backfield departures.

Patterson, a 5-foot-10, 210-pound native of Pompano Beach, Fla., recorded 296 rushing yards on 60 carries and caught three passes for nine yards in his 10 games played this season.

Over his four seasons with the Hawkeyes, Patterson totaled 858 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 195 rushing attempts and caught nine passes for 35 yards. Patterson made two starts across 34 games played with the Hawkeyes.

Patterson was a three-star signee in Iowa’s 2022 class per 247Sports, where he was rated as the nation’s No. 65 running back and the 102nd-ranked player in Florida.

Patterson will have one year of eligibility remaining as he redshirted during his true freshman season in 2022.
