SOUTH BEND —In the wake of a 49-10 dismantling of Navy, Notre Dame football has edged up one more spot in this week’s US LBM Coaches Poll.

Now ranked ninth after claiming a seventh straight victory, coach Marcus Freeman’s Irish (7-2) remain the highest-ranked two-loss team. Texas and Oklahoma sit immediately behind them, tied for 10th with identical records as Notre Dame.

The second College Football Playoff Selection Committee ranking will be released on Tuesday evening. The Associated Press media poll also placed the Irish ninth this week.

The top seven remain unchanged in the coaches’ poll, including No. 3 Texas A&M (9-0) after a road win over a ranked Missouri outfit. The Aggies, 41-40 winners over Notre Dame on Sept. 13, finish their regular season at Texas later this month.

USC (7-2), which climbed to No. 18 in the coaches’ poll, is the only ranked team with a loss to Notre Dame.

Miami (7-2), which beat Notre Dame 27-24 in the season opener at Hard Rock Stadium, whipped Syracuse and moved up two spots to No. 16, per the coaches.

The Irish visit No. 23 Pittsburgh (7-2) on Saturday, Nov. 15, at noon.
