SOUTH BEND — Notre Dame football used a total of 54 players on offense or defense in Saturday night’s 49-10 win over unranked Navy.

Boubacar Traore, the Irish sacks leader at defensive end, was not among them. The third-year sophomore from Boston apparently was a healthy scratch with the limited pass-rushing needs for Chris Ash’s defense against the run-first Midshipmen.

“It wasn’t injury-related,” Irish coach Marcus Freeman said. “It was just more this game right now (was) probably not his strong suit. Now, probably some third-down situations we could’ve (played Traore), but, no, it was not injury-related.”
